About Sophie Sweets

I grew up in Auburn, and my journey with cake began early—selling custom cakes out of my home while still in high school. It was there that I first saw the strong demand for birthday and celebration cakes, especially for customers who wanted something elevated but didn’t always have weeks to plan ahead.

That experience led me to launch Sophie Cheffy, a custom wedding cake business specializing in elegant, made-to-order designs. Over the past five years, working closely with couples and clients, one thing became clear: while custom bakeries deliver beauty and quality, they often require long lead times—leaving a major gap for last-minute celebrations.

Here at Auburn, there is always something to celebrate—from gameday weekends and graduations to birthdays, engagements, and life’s milestones big and small. Yet so many people have experienced the same frustration: you fully intend to order a beautiful custom cake, only to realize the event is days away. Suddenly, the excitement turns into panic, and you’re left settling for an ordinary grocery-store cake that doesn’t match the moment you imagined.

Sophie Sweets was created to solve that problem.

Founded by Sophie Snyder, a senior studying Hospitality Management with a focus in Culinary at Auburn University, Sophie Sweets eliminates the trade-off between convenience and quality. We offer trendy, gourmet celebration cakes and cake cups made from scratch—ready when you need them.

Customers can order online and pick up as soon as the next day. Cakes are stored in secure, on-campus food lockers (launching February), allowing for quick, contactless pickup with a simple phone scan. Auburn students can use dining dollars, and parents can place personalized orders from anywhere in the country for their student to pick up on campus.

Conveniently located in HeyDay, Sophie Sweets also offers a taste-first experience—customers can try a cake cup before committing to a full-size cake. Every product is baked in the Rane Center Pastry Lab, just steps away, using fresh, high-quality ingredients for a true gourmet experience.
